Geophysical prospecting with controlled - source electromagnetic data Oriol

چکیده
Controlled-source electromagnetics (CSEM) is an active geophysical technique sensitive to the electrical resistivity of the subsoil, with the peculiarity that the source producing the electromagnetic signal is a man-made device. It has been largely applied for offshore environments in hydrocarbon exploration due to the good penetration depth and resolution, although its application onshore is still under investigation because it is less favorable. In order to study this technique, a dataset was acquired at Samalús (Vallès Oriental) the 22 and 23 February, 2017; and in this work a 1D model simulation and interpretation of these data is presented.

Approximate resistivity and susceptibility mapping from airborne electromagnetic and magnetic data, a case study for a geologically plausible porphyry copper unit in Iran
This paper describes the application of approximate methods to invert airborne magnetic data as well as helicopter-borne frequency domain electromagnetic data in order to retrieve a joint model of magnetic susceptibility and electrical resistivity. The study area located in Semnan province of Iran consists of an arc-shaped porphyry andesite covered by sedimentary units which may have potential ...
متن کاملSpecial Section — Marine Controlled-source Electromagnetic Methods an Introduction to Marine Controlled-source Electromagnetic Methods for Hydrocarbon Exploration
Early development of marine electromagnetic methods, dating back about 80 years, was driven largely by defense/military applications, and use for these purposes continues to this day. Deepwater, frequency-domain, electric dipole-dipole, controlled-source electromagnetic CSEM methods arose from academic studies of the oceanic lithosphere in the 1980s, and although the hydrocarbon exploration ind...
متن کاملModEM: A modular system for inversion of electromagnetic geophysical data
We describe implementation of a modular system of computer codes for inversion of electromagnetic geophysical data, referred to as ModEM. The system is constructed with a fine level of modular granularity, with basic components of the inversion – forward modeling, sensitivity computations, inversion search algorithms, model parametrization and regularization, data functionals – interchangeable,...
متن کاملHistorical damage pattern and causes of differential damage: an approach based on combining geophysical prospecting, geological and historical-technical data
We describe a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary method to analyse the causes of differential macroseismic effects caused by an earthquake in a historical town. We illustrate the method with a case study based on analysing the damage caused by the 1930 Irpinia earthquake (Me=6.7) in Melfi, a town in southern Italy. A damage pattern map was already available for this site. To understand the...
متن کاملOptimized 3D synthetic aperture for CSEM
Controlled-source electromagnetics (CSEM) is a geophysical method used by industry to find and derisk reservoirs in marine settings. To reduce the impact of the complicated settings and improve the detecting capabilities of CSEM, we apply synthetic aperture, which virtually increases the length of the source. Applying a weight to each source steers or focuses the synthetic aperture source array...
